Powhatan Information
Welcome > Local Info > Powhatan Information ...

Welcome to Powhatan!

Are you someone who loves space, peace and quiet? Do you love a small town atmosphere, with quaint restaurants, good schools, and being close to your neighbors….but not too close?

Then Powhatan is for you!

There are several neighborhoods worth looking into!

The Woodlands and Skippers Creek Farm feature homes from the $150s-$180s. These include brick ranchers, and two story homes, some on wooded lots.

Rolling Trail, Mattox Crossing and Dorset Ridge are all communities with Cape, Ranch, and Two story homes in the $200-$300 range.

Branchway Springs, and Maple Grove neighborhoods are upscale neighborhoods and range from the upper $300s to the $400s. Some of these homes are on two plus acres.

Need something more? You must see Huntington, Dalmore, Founder’s Bridge and Pinecrest! These are stunning custom homes that you would be proud to own!

There are several other communities, new and existing that deserve a look! Just tell me what you need in a home, and I’ll match you up with the community that will suit you and your family’s needs!

Of course, when you live in the country you may want a home that is not in a neighborhood. There are many in Powhatan like that. You can find a rustic cottage, a horse farm, an homestead in the woods, and a historic residence.

Powhatan is loaded with charm and local color. There are so many reasons to call Powhatan home. There is wild life galore…such as deer and wild turkeys. There is an occasional white squirrel, and a multitude of bird species. Bluebirds are especially plentiful! The air is fresh, and the breeze is cool.

If you like to play golf, The Links at Mill Quarter, off of Route 13, is the place to enjoy a round.

Powhatan has occasional town parades where veterans and military personnel are honored. There are events like the Pork Festival, the Festival of the Grape, the Bullnanza, and many charitable events. The local newspaper, the “Powhatan Today” is a must have for anyone moving to the county!

And talk about good food! Pick from several local restaurants for freshly made, delicious home-made food. Go to “The County Seat” for lunch. You won’t be disappointed!

Stop in at the “Four Seasons” for a dinner with friends.
Turners Barbeque and The Real McCoy Barbeque are excellent choices!

And don’t miss the new Mexican restaurant “El Cerro Azul”. You’ll come back again and again.

Rosa’s Pizza Restaurant is another fantastic choice!
You must try several of their menu items, including subs, stromboli, calzone, or their specialty pizzas!

Stop in at the Virginia Pantry and Becky’s Tea Room. There’s several delightful menu items, and they serve locally grown Manakintown greens and heirloom vegetables.

Real Estate Tips
Buyers Remorse >The Blues of Buyers

Here is an illustration of what you might go through as a homebuyer when the real estate agent calls to say that your offer has just been accepted.

Although you are ecstatic when your agent congratulates you, your initial euphoria may be short-lived if you begin to have second thoughts about the purchase. You may look at the amount of cash required for the down payment and closing costs, and feel that you won't be able to enjoy a restaurant meal or a shopping spree for months! The mortgage added to the interest payments over thirty years seems like an outrageously high sum. Finally, you stare at the inspector's report and convince yourself that the roof will blow off and every major system will fail the day after you move in. You're in a frenzy. You ask yourself, "What am I doing?"

If you begin having doubts about your home purchase, the wisest approach is simply to relax! These feelings are so common that they have been given a name--"Buyer's Remorse." "Buyer's Remorse" is almost always a temporary malady, so please call your real estate agent if you are having an extreme attack. Your agent has experience in helping clients through the home-buying jitters.
